Guidelines for Contributors

Submission procedure and manuscript preparation

  • CJSW accepts submission on a rolling basis. Submissions will be reviewed anonymously by members of the editorial board and by readers with competence in the field. The review process will take about three months.
  • Please include a short biographical note of 15-50 words
  • Abstracts of no more than 150 words must accompany manuscripts. Manuscripts without abstracts will not be considered.

  • CJSW uses APA style in the publication. Authors are encouraged to consult the APA Manual or any of several excellent on-line sources for guidance on the correct way to format their articles.
  • All submissions should be double-spaced throughout. Do not justify text at the right margin. Use tabs to indent paragraphs. Use hard returns at the end of paragraph only.
  • Cover page: include author’s name and affiliation, address, phone and fax numbers, e-mail address.
  • text: articles should not exceed 15-20 pages or 6,000 words. Information that reveals the identity of author should not appear in text
  • citations: author-date format should be used in text citations. Sources cited must appear in the reference list following notes at the end of an article, and must be accurate and complete.
  • reference list: avoid an unduly lengthy reference list or using a string of references for a single point.
  • notes: these must appear as endnotes, not footnotes.
  • tables and figures: Each should be on a separate paper, titled, numbered and referred to in order in the text. Tables should be double-spaced and may be more than one page long. Sources of information and table, notes should be identified under the table and be double-spaced.
  • figures: these should be designed to fir a maximum page of 5 x 8 inches. Figures must be clearly drawn on white paper. High quality computer graphics are also acceptable. Letters and numerals must be large enough to remain legible when reduced. The original or glossy print of each figure will be required if the manuscripts is accepted.

Miscellaneous

  • Any unusual symbols should be identified in the margin in pencil. Acronyms or abbreviations should be written out the first time they occur in the text.
  • Please do not submit manuscripts or materials that are under review elsewhere or that have previously published.
  • Authors will have the opportunity to see page proofs.
